Now that we are into the glory days of summer, I thought it would be fun to mention a few activities that are enjoyable for father’s and kids to do together. My son is only 15 months old now, so we are somewhat limited in our options, but I am excited for the future summers as well. We are definitely big fans of water-swimming pools, the lakes, or going to the sprinkle park that is just down the road from us. It is great fun for younger kids, because of the shooting water fountains and toys all around (with a giant sport court so there feet don‘t burn up). And as a parent you don’t have to worry about flotation devices, life jackets and all that stuff.
Another great outdoor activity that we enjoy is the zoo. My son is at an age now where he is so intrigued by animals and the outdoor life. He loves feeding the animals and watching all of the shows too. The zoo is so kid-friendly and exciting, but also very interesting for parents as well.
One thing that I am anxious to take my son to in years to come is the amusement park. I know that he will love riding the rides and playing all the cool, but money blowing games they have. He is a little young for that yet, but when the time comes I know he will love it. There seems to be a pretty decent amusement park no more than an hour outside of most major cities, and some of them have water parks connected to them as well. It is great fun for kids and adults as well.
The other activity that we have started that is very inexpensive and fun, is sports. We have a junior golf set, soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, tennis rackets, you name it, we have it outside in the summer time. My son has taken a tremendous interest in anything with balls involved, and we have accommodated him well.
I hope I could help you out with some great summer ideas for fun in the sun. Enjoy the weather while it lasts. See you next week.

I love daughter-daddy days in the summer, we have so much fun together. Living in Fresno we try to find ways to beat the heat, and it’s an added bonus when they are budget-friendly as well. I really enjoy taking my daughter to the movies. The movie theatre closest to us offers FREE summer movies in the mornings during the week. It is a lot of fun to take my 4 year old. We always have the same routine, with a big tub of popcorn, m & m’s, and a sprite. There are a lot of theaters that offer free movies(they are movies that have been out for a couple years) so be sure to check your local listings to find free movies in your area.
We also plan trips to the museum. We recently went to the Bob the Builder exhibit and had a blast. The local Met offers free tickets to the first 20 guests, and all day on Friday. So again it is a great, educational, and budget-friendly day for me and my girls.
One of my favorite, and most frequent, things to do during the summer is to pack a picnic and go out to the park. Weeat, feed the ducks, and the girls get there energy out. I couldn’t ask for anything more!
There are so many great offers and deals during the summer months for you and your kids to enjoy. You just have to check your local listings and find the Event specials in your area. Have a great summer…
