My SIL is 32 weeks with twins. Throughout her pregnancy she was somewhat considered to be high risk. Unfortunately last year she had been pregnant with another set of twin boys that did not make it after being delivered at 21 weeks 5 days. So this time around she has taken ever precautionary measure known to man. Can’t really blame her given the circumstances. She has had, at least, double the amount of checkups that a normal Prego would have and also have preventative procedures to really make sure she will carry to term this time. It has been really stressful for, of course, her and her hubby, but our whole family. The trauma we all faced when we found out she was in labor so early was striking, and we all knew it would be nearly impossible to handle it again. She has been great with following all the rules and putting herself on so called, bed rest. We have been putting a lot of time and effort into planning her shower, that took place on Saturday. Thursday night we get a call that she is at the hospital. After dinner that evening she began to feel contractions, which she had been experiencing a lot over the past few weeks. My SIL is very knowledgeable and with the help of the online contraction counter she knew it was time to call the doc. The doctor that was on staff checked her charts, and was concerned about her past history and told her to come in. After being put on magnesium sulfate for 24 hours the contractions became under control and she was able to make it to her shower for her Two Little Pumpkins.
Having contractions can be an interesting situation. Towards the end they give you hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you won’t be this huge forever. For others, they can be scary if they come to early. And, for first timers you may not know what is going on with your body. You will definitely know something is up but is it Braxton Hick’s, real contractions, something else you should be alarmed about? There are so many great tools and gadgets available to ease your tension. Hop online to Contraction Masters and let them monitor your contractions. Once they reach the range you were suggested by your doc, then get your bags packed and ready to go cause you’ll be a mommy sooner than later!
