Santa has already hit the malls. Honestly, I did not think he would make his appearance until after Thanksgiving, but there he was. The last few weeks we have been getting a head start on teaching my son about Santa and a few Christmas songs, in hopes some will be recognizable for the big day. I guess he caught on fast. As soon as he laid eyes on the jolly ol’ man he ran right to him. It was a slow Tuesday afternoon and Santa was just hanging ouin his special chair. It was so wonderful for Baby D to really spend some time with him while they pointed out all the reindeer and toys surrounding them. Since no one else was in line we even took our time getting the best photo possible. At first, I felt like I was totally cheating on Thanksigiving by giving into Christmas festivities early, after seeing the great photo I figured it was worth it. Last year we were in Hungary and Santa only comes out of the North Pole on December 5th for St. Nicolas Day, so my son hadn’t had his first experience with the big man in red. All in all, we had a great experience until we were given our order form. I asked, “Can’t I have one picture in a cheesey cardboard frame?” The elfs response was, “our smallest package includes four pictures for $20!” WTF, since when do santa pic’s involve packages? I guess I have missed Christmas in the states the last 6 years, no more poloroids or $5 keepsake pictures. Oh well, they’re worth it, I guess. So, do yourself a favor, if you think your kid won’t perform under pressure and with a line of kids behind them, go early.
