*In 1621 the first Thanksgiving took place in Plymouth Colony (currently Massachusetts).
*The first Thanksgiving celebration lasted three days
*200 years later, Thanksgiving was officially declared a national “day of giving thanks” by President Lincoln, and set to occur every year during the last week of November.
*It wasn’t until 1941 that it was declared a National holiday.
*Sarah Josepha Hale, the author of “Mary had a Little Lamb,” had a huge role in Thanksgiving’s journey to declaration as an official holiday.
*Minnesota is considered the top turkey-producing state in the country.
*46 million turkeys were consumed on Thanksgiving Day in 2007.
*The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade took place in 1924 in New York.
*Snoopy has appeared in the parade more than any other animal character in history.
