One of the greatest things about OpenSky is the fact that we have met some incredible bloggers and shopkeepers from all over the US. In our first shopkeeper review, our readers voted on the Shopkeepers they would most likely purchase a product from. Does it surprise you that you all selected a uber crafty mama?! Amy Powers is a mom with a love for getting down and crafty, as you can see in her incredible blog Inspire Company. On a side note, it is not very often that I see a blog and fall in love with the design, but I adore her festive blog and the simplicity of the design–perfection. We were honored to ask Amy a few question, and here is what she had to say:
HHM: Tell us a little bit about yourself–When did you start blogging and what inspired you to do so?
AMY: I’ve been blogging for a while now…since 2005. It started out as a way to communicate to my customers of my then online store. I started to share more personal matters and the blog became less about business and more about me. The most personal of all that I’ve shared on the blog is our unusual journey into parenthood. Unable to have children of our own, my husband and I decided to become foster parents a couple of years ago. Our first foster baby arrived in our home 3 days after we were certified. We fell completely in love. He lived with us for 10 months and when he left to live with his father on the other side of the country, we were heartbroken. A prayer that we didn’t think we had the right to pray came true when his father asked us 6 months later to be co-parents with him. We now share custody of that same little boy and we are so happy.
.
HHM: When approached by the OpenSky team, what was it that made you think, “Wow, I really want to be a part of this!”?
AMY: Everyone was just so enthusiastic about it…it’s contagious! I love the idea of shopping your passion…and shopping with folks who know their stuff. It’s very exciting, isn’t it?
.
HHM: What types of products can we find in your store? Can we get a hint about any products we can expect to see in the near future that aren’t quite up yet?
AMY: My shop is all about crafting so you’ll find everything from tools to supplies to books about crafting. I’m really hoping to add some fun birthday themed items that I found including reusable fabric treat bags. We’ll see…
.
HHM: What is your favorite product in Happy Hour Mom’s OpenSky shop?
AMY: I really love the Butch & Harold Stickr Frame kit. I got it for Christmas last year and we put the empty frames up in a long hall way that we pass everyday. The plan is to put the pictures of children we care for in the frames through the years. Those empty frames have come to symbolize the love that’s sure to fill our home.
.
HHM: How do you spend your Happy Hour?
AMY: My happy hour (naptime) is spent making stuff. I love getting a little lost in crafting, glittering, gluing and painting. My last happy hour was spent preparing a little advent house to help countdown the days and share the Christmas magic with our little one.
