These days there is an “App” for EVERYTHING. No joke, literally everything. Some of them are completely random, some are entertaining, and some are actually really helpful. I was at one of Gena’s Materni-tea parties the other day and we started talking about some of the different applications on our iPhones, more importantly, applications for parents and soon-to-be parents. There are a gazillion (and one) out there, but here are a few of my faves:
Pregnancy Trackers:
Pregnancy tracker from What to Expect | FREE | Track you baby’s development, track your pregnancy weekly, due-date calculator and countdown, slideshow of personal belly pics, and more!
Baby Bump | $4.99 | Rave reviews suggest it is one of the best Pregnancy Apps out there. With top of the line tracking tools, you can calculate your due date, track your progress, personal countdown and profile, weekly embryo pics, common symptoms, cravings, and changes, weight tracker, calendars, icons, and MUCH MUCH more. (I had to stop somewhere, but you definitely get $4.99 worth of info and tools).
Just Fun:
Babyface |$1.99 | This one looks so fun! Using Mendel’s Scientific Theory of traits and inheritance, Babyface calculates your entries regarding the traits of yourself and your partner to generate a projected cartoon-like image of what your baby will look like. I already have my two girls but am thinking about trying it out just to see how close it can get. Have you tried it?
Baby Names Plus | $2.99 | With over 8500 names to provide inspiration in naming your baby, you cn get full meaning, pronunciation and much more. Search names by origin, popularity, makes lists, and get detailed statistics and information on those names that peak your interest. Naming your baby can be fun and stressful at the same time, so any additional help is often welcomed. Let us know what you come up with…
Labor Day Must-Haves:
Contraction Master | $0.99 | Labor can get hectic, so any tool to help the process go more smoothly is ALWAYS welcomed. Use the contraction master to track the start and end times of your contractions, the duration, and the frequency. Not only that, with the lick of a button (or the tap of a finger) you can send the log to your doc or family members. Wow, so cool.
Birth Announcement | $0.99 | This App allows you to efficiently share your baby details with your friends and family. Send an announcement by phone with all of the important details and pictures only minutes after baby is born, without having to go through the emailing process. After the birth of your child you won’t want to take your eyes of your little bundle, so this App is a really great tool.
These are obviously just a small percentage of what is out there for all you expecting parents, but it is enough to get you started. Share with us YOUR favorite Apps, or your experience with any of these.
