At one of my husband’s recent games, my 5 year old daughter was asked to participate in the little contest they do between the 1st and 2nd quarter. I was up in the stands and she was sitting court side with her cousins when they asked her if she wanted to do it, and I knew it was not going to go well as I watched her head toward the court. This is a contest they have during every game, and I knew that she was going to have a hard time getting that ginormous jersey on. She just turned five and often has me tell her which side goes in the front, so I knew it was going to be hard for her (she is a perfectionist and there was no way she was going to just throw it on carelessly). Most kids throw it on and go, but she was trying REALLY hard. It is also a little more difficult because she is the size of a 7 year old so people don’t always give her the benefit of the doubt when she has “5 year old” moments. Either way, this was hilarious. Watch the video and you can see her struggling out their–poor thing. I was standing with family and we were all cracking up, but not in a mean way, more in an “aw-you’re-so-cute” sort of way. Sorry about the crazy camera at times, I was trying to watch and film at the same time so I went a little Blair Witch on you for a minute. The funniest part was afterward–she lost her shoe, stormed off the court and was so embarrassed it took me five minutes to get her to look up. She told me she was so embarrassed and couldn’t believe she lost. She said “And I lost to a toddler!!” The funny part is that she was referring to the little boy who was two years older than her, but about 2 inches shorter. I guess she just assumed he was a “Toddler” because he was shorter. Oh man, kids are so funny.

Oh Kira…I love you and your perfectionist attitude…you did a great job (and those silly boys have nothing on you!).
