when little girls love their daddy

dsc02019

As a mom I am sure you can relate to the moments of exhaustion, when you would love nothing more than to sink into your warm bed and just sleep. Or just spend an entire day doing nothing but laying around, reading a good book or watching good movies. I say this as I think back to the days that this was an option. Nowadays I wouldn’t do this if I could, primarily because I have a gazillion things on my to-do list and running through my mind constantly. So instead of having a break so that I can relax and do nothing, I would love a break so that I could get some of those things on my list done without a 1 1/2 year old hanging around my ankles.

Up until the recent weeks, my 1 1/2 year old has been extremely demanding. Now, don’t get me wrong, she is a great kid. She is pleasant to be around, relatively quiet, and very sweet, melting everyone’s hearts as our little cuddler–but she was starting to drive me absolutely INSANE!! I was getting to the point where I had little to NO downtime. Daddy has always been a huge help but my gobble monster had to be close to her food source. I truly believe that her attachment had a lot to do with the fact that I am still breastfeeding. However, with each week that she grows older, and nurses a little less, she is becoming attached to Daddy. Praise the Lord! These days Daddy can occupy her while I can have time to get things done. She is becoming so attached that when he leaves for work she will go sit by the door for a few minutes calling for Dada. (So cute! And sad all at the same time…) And I can honestly say that I get a little bit of satisfaction when he is exhausted at night and all she wants is her Daddy. And he looks at me with that expression that I have had for a good part of the last year. I mean, I feel for him and all, but man I am glad it’s him and not me!! It is absolutely adorable to see how much our girls adore their daddy, priceless. You can check out some of our recent pics on my personal blog, Happy Hour with Shannon, as we went to Daddy’s first game (basketball) of the season with the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
