You know you’ve made it when you are invited to appear as a guest on Oprah. So you can imagine how thrilled I was yesterday when I received the most incredible phone call of my life. How many times have you heard the blurb at the end of your favorite talk show, “Have you ever battled with depression? Send in your story” or “Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their contributions to the community? Send in their story…” Well, about a month ago as I caught the end of Oprah, I heard the request for stories about do-all moms for a 2010 Mother’s Day Special. The first Mom to pop in my head? Why Toni of course! From traveling the world in support of her hubby, to raising a beautiful, well-behaved little boy, to being the most selfless friend a girl could ever ask for (she is one of those that makes you feel like a bad friend in comparison because she is ALWAYS there, always listening, and always supportive–she would put any one of her friends before herself), not to mention the time and creativity that has helped make Happy Hour Mom what it is today…I could go on for days. So I wrote in, and shared a little about Toni and how she has impacted my life. I sent the message and didn’t think about it again. Until yesterday, when the phone rang. I almost didn’t answer because I didn’t recognize the number, but man am I glad I did. It was an assistant from Harpo Studios with the incredible news. Toni had been selected, and we WERE BOTH INVITED TO APPEAR ON THE SHOW!! I think I peed my pants a little but, I have never been so excited in my entire life. Then the weirdest thing happened. The phone started ringing again, and I was like, how is the phone ringing when I am on it, and my husband was like, wake up baby, your alarm is going off you need to get up. And oh, yeah, it’s April Fools.
