After 9 long months of waiting for your darling baby bundle of joy many parents can’t wait to shout the incredible news of their arrival from the rooftops. Besides the initial emails, text messages and Facebook posts people love to see announcements snail mail style. Do yourself a favor and look ahead of time! Bookmark a style and decide on a verse, which is half battle. There are so many fun and modern places to order announcements from. If you have an eye for design than you could even take a stab at your own layout. Whether you have a budget that is minimal or substantial there is an option for everyone. Here are a few tips to help you figure out how to frame up your first special photos of your beautiful babies.
Timing
If you are waiting post birth to seek our your birth announcements don’t worry because you have time. Being a new mom people give you some extra leeway considering you’re probably sleep deprived. It is perfectly acceptable to send them as late as six months. Kill two birds with one stone and wait for the next big holiday to send them out.
Address Book
Compiling the mailing list before the baby’s birth is also highly recommended. Every year I do the same song and dance tracking down and updated addresses. Make it as easy on your self as possible. Who receives a birth announcement? When in doubt, send it. Start off with your closest family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
What to include in your announcement:
Parent’s name
Date of birth
Weight of the baby
Name of the baby
Inclusion of big brothers/sisters
Favorite sites:
Tiny Prints
Minted
Paper Culture
Etsy
Multitasking tip:
While you are ordering announcements, be sure to pick up some thank you cards. You’ve just spent good money or took the time to prepare a special photo shoot you should have plenty of good pics to go around.
